New Dell XPS 13

For a long time, the unwritten rule of buying a laptop was that a lower price tag meant settling for fewer features or a cheaper build. The new Dell XPS 13 challenges that idea. Designed with students, young professionals, and daily commuters in mind, this laptop aims to deliver a high-quality experience without requiring a massive budget or a heavy backpack.

While the recent introduction of competing laptops like Apple’s MacBook Neo shows that there is a strong demand for accessible, high-quality machines, Dell’s approach focuses on packed-in features. Instead of offering a stripped-down version of its flagship line, Dell has built the XPS 13 as a smaller, lighter, and more affordable entry point that retains the core qualities of the XPS brand.

Specs and Features

The XPS 13 stands out by including several standard features that are often treated as expensive upgrades or left out entirely by competitors in this price bracket:

  • Display: 13.4-inch 2.5K LCD Touch Display with a variable refresh rate (30Hz to 120Hz). It covers 100% of the professional DCI-P3 color gamut, making it accurate enough for photo and video editing.
  • Design & Dimensions: Aluminum chassis measuring just 12.7mm thin and weighing 1kg (2.2 lbs), making it the thinnest and lightest XPS laptop to date.
  • Processor Options: Powered by Intel Core Series 3 processors at launch, with configurations featuring Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors arriving later.
  • Memory & Cooling: Up to 32GB of fast LPDDR5X memory, supported by a dual-fan thermal system to keep the system cool and quiet under heavy workloads.
  • Battery Life: Rated for up to 17 hours of video streaming, thanks in part to the power-saving variable refresh rate display.
  • Connectivity: High-speed USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2) ports and Intel Wi-Fi 7 compatibility for faster, more stable internet connections.
  • Audio & Biometrics: A quad-speaker audio setup and Windows Hello facial recognition for quick, secure sign-ins.
  • Usability: A full-sized backlit keyboard for typing in low-light environments paired with a traditional, reliable touchpad.
  • Color Choices: Available in two finishes, Sky and Storm.

Pricing and Availability

  • Student Pricing: Eligible students aged 16 and older can purchase the laptop starting at $599.
  • Standard Pricing: For all other buyers, retail pricing starts at $699.
  • Available: June 16, 2026

The Intel Core Series 3 models are arriving soon. Models featuring the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, as well as the Storm color option, will be released later this summer.
