Connecting your AirPods 4 to a laptop is a pretty straightforward process, whether you’re using a Mac or a Windows PC.
Here is how to get them paired up and ready to go:
How to connect airpods 4 to Macbook
If you are using an Apple laptop (MacBook Pro or MacBook Air) and your Mac is already signed into the same Apple ID as your phone, your AirPods 4 might already be connected! If not, here is how to do it manually:
- Open the lid: Keep your AirPods 4 inside their charging case and open the case lid.
- Put them in pairing mode: Since the AirPods 4 don’t have a physical button on the back of the case like older models, look at the front of the case. Double-tap the front center area (near the status light) while the lid is open. The status light will start flashing white, letting you know they are ready to pair.
- Open Mac settings: On your Mac, click the Apple menu in the top-left corner and open System Settings, then click on Bluetooth.
- Connect: Find your AirPods 4 in the list of “Nearby Devices” and click Connect.
How to connect airpods 4 to Windows Laptop
Connecting to a Windows laptop is just like pairing any other Bluetooth device:
- Open the pairing window: On your laptop, open the Start Menu, go to Settings (the gear icon), and select Bluetooth & devices. Make sure your Bluetooth is turned on, then click Add device and choose Bluetooth.
- Put the AirPods in pairing mode: Open the AirPods 4 case lid. Double-tap the front center of the case until the status light flashes white.
- Pair them up: Watch the “Add a device” window on your Windows screen. Your AirPods 4 should pop up in the list after a few seconds. Click on them, and Windows will take care of the rest.
Quick Tip: If your laptop ever struggles to play audio through them later on, just click the sound/speaker icon in your taskbar (bottom right on Windows, top right on Mac) and make sure your AirPods are selected as the active output device.
