Vivo X300 Ultra

Vivo has officially introduced its new flagship, the Vivo X300 Ultra, a phone built specifically for people who take photography and filmmaking seriously. Vivo has reimagined the smartphone as a “pocket-sized camera” built for the needs of creators and photography enthusiasts.

Photography Capabilities

The big idea behind the Vivo X300 Ultra is that every lens should be a “main” lens. Usually, phones have one great camera and two okay ones, but Vivo has moved away from this by treating every lens as a “main” camera.

The camera system, developed in partnership with ZEISS, features three standout lenses:

  • The Wide View (14mm): Great for landscapes and architecture. It uses a much larger sensor than most ultra-wide cameras, meaning your wide shots won’t look grainy or dark.
  • 35mm Portrait Lens: This lens uses the new Sony LYT-901 sensor. Known as the “storyteller’s focal length,” the 35mm lens is designed to capture scenes exactly as the human eye sees them, providing a natural perspective for street photography and portraits
  • 85mm Telephoto: It uses a massive 200MP sensor and incredible stabilization. It’s steady enough that even if your hands shake while zooming in from far away, the photo stays crisp.

Video Capabilities

The X300 Ultra can shoot in 4K at 120fps across all its lenses, a rarity in the smartphone world, which is a big deal for creators who want slow-motion footage without losing quality.

For those who do their own color grading, it offers professional 10-bit Log recording and supports the ACES color management standard.

To help with the filming process, Vivo has included features like:

  • Pro Video Mode: An interface that mimics professional cinema cameras.
  • Custom LUTs: You can import your own color presets to see exactly how the final footage will look while you are still filming.
  • SmallRig Compatibility: A dedicated video rig kit is available to turn the phone into a more traditional filming setup.

Natural Colors and Film Look

One of the most refreshing aspects of the Vivo X300 Ultra is its approach to color. Vivo is moving away from the “over-processed” look common in mobile photography. With the new Blueprint Color Science, the Vivo X300 Ultra aims for color accuracy and an original look.

The phone includes a 12-channel spectral sensor that helps the camera “see” colors exactly as the human eye does, preventing common issues like white balance shifts in tricky lighting. Additionally, Vivo has introduced a “Natural Color” mode that mimics the soft highlights and organic texture of traditional film, giving photos a more cinematic, “breathable” feel without the harsh sharpness of digital algorithms.
