Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 focuses on reliable everyday performance and clean aesthetics. The physical build has a sleek, anodized aluminum casing. It uses a 3:2 display ratio, which makes the screen taller than a standard widescreen laptop. This extra vertical space reduces scrolling when reading articles or working on documents. Unlike some other models in the Surface family, it does not have a fully detachable screen or a 360-degree hinge.

Microsoft offers this laptop in two sizes depending on how much screen space or portability you need.

13.5-inch Model: Weighs about 2.80 to 2.86 pounds, making it highly portable.

15-inch Model: Weighs around 3.44 pounds, offering a larger viewing area

Touchscreen Display

Both sizes feature Microsoft’s signature PixelSense touchscreen. The screen supports Dolby Vision IQ, which automatically updates the picture quality based on the lighting conditions in your room, and it is protected by damage-resistant Gorilla Glass. It also works with the Surface Pen if you prefer to write or sketch directly on the glass.

Battery Life

The 13.5 inch model can last up to 18 hours of typical use on a single charge.

The 15 inch model lasts up to 17 hours.

Camera and Audio

The laptop has a built-in 720p HD front-facing camera that works alongside dual far-field studio microphones to capture your voice clearly during video calls.

The camera array includes an infrared sensor, allowing you to log into Windows 11 hands-free using facial recognition through Windows Hello.

For audio playback, Omnisonic speakers are hidden directly underneath the keyboard keys and support Dolby Atmos for clearer, directional sound.
